A French home with a view. Home of the Nice Cyclist
Welcome to the home of the Nice Cyclist
We offer our guests tailor-made cycling experiences regardless of whether you can cycle 200 km in the mountains, or this will be your first chance cycling abroad.
We invite you to stay at our bed and breakfast located near Nice in the south of France.
We have time to help each guest with personalised cycling routes or we can cycle along as a guide. We have spent years cycling in the area to find the best roads free of traffic. You get to enjoy breathtaking nature and great views. We know all the best spots for coffee stops and lunch on the road.
And that is not all. We will setup one of our rental bikes for you if you donโt fancy traveling with your own bike.
Thank you again for another fantastic experience! Weโll be back!
โWant to say thank you for some great days in good company with good challenges. The bikes were super nice with perfect gearing. It has been a pleasure to be able to cycle with you again in the south of France. Hope to be back soon.โ

About
In 2022 after retiring from careers in the tech industry we bought our house in France with the goal to “get busy living”, as they say in the USA, where we have lived for many years.
We have worked hard to gently renovate the house. We are now ready to share the experience of having time and room for reflection with others. Reflection means yoga for Bonnie and for Jesper it means riding his bike. We are in the perfect surroundings for experiencing nature, biking, hiking or fishing in the Siagne river that runs by our village.
The house
The house is a classic French townhouse split over 4 floors, with a south facing rooftop terrace that overlooks Cannes and the Mediterranean.
The house is possibly 800 years old. No one knows, because the land registry does not date back that far. But that doesn’t mean we haven’t found room for modern conveniences such as air condition and fiber internet.
View from the rooftop terrace
The house has 4 double bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom. There is of course also a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and next to the roof terrace you will find the outdoor kitchen.
Our max capacity is 8 guests at a time. If you are a large group then we can accommodate up to 20 people by using another property located next door. Check this out https://bastidebellevue.fr
Bon Appรฉtit
“While the riding and hiking are outstanding, come for the house and the town. So far away from hustle and bustle but so close to it with an easy run into Nice for the day. I could spend hours, actually I did spend hours, on the terrace – the morning to kick off the day and evenings for a glass of rose to wind it all down. Great house set up with bedrooms having their own bath, a luxury in France, and so many different areas to hang out and gather in as a group. Already planning a 2023 visit.”
There is free parking, but expect to carry your bag the last 50 meters up from the car park, as cars cannot drive in the city’s cozy narrow streets.
The house is located in the village Auribeau-sur-Siagne, between Cannes, Mougins and Grasse. We think the location is the perfect balance between country and city living. Itโs a 15 min drive to Cannes and the coast. You can enjoy all the perks and bustle of the Cote dโAzur during the day and then retreat to the house for some peace and quiet at night.
In Auribeau we have a handful of restaurants, a drugstore, a wineshop and of course a bakery with crispy baguettes and warm croissants. In Pegomas (5 min away) we have several supermarkets, more shops and restaurants. We are 35 minutes from Nice airport via the A8 motorway.
View towards Grasse
Bed and Breakfast
Please come and visit us as a Bed and Breakfast guest.
We have 3 guest rooms each setup to accomodate 2 guests.
There is a separate entrance to the guest rooms, so you can come and go as you please. Each room has it’s own ensuite bathroom and ample storage for your luggage.
Each morning we will serve you coffee/tea, juice, home-baked bread and muesli. We will make sure you are ready to enjoy the day whether you go for a bike ride, a hike in the mountains or have a day of nothing but relaxation planned. Perhaps go for a swim in the Siagne river?
“Newly renovated and elegant interior. Own large bathroom. Delicious, delicious breakfast. Lovely hosts. 5 stars from here ๐๐ป๐๐ป”
“I have had the great pleasure of staying in Jesper and Bonnieโs beautiful house in Auribeau. The most beautiful thing, however, is their hospitality and the way they run their B&B. They are two people who are very welcoming, service minded, easy to talk to and they cook really delicious food. I can heartily recommend this place.THANK YOU for the lovely stay.”

Bed, Breakfast, Ride & Repeat
Want to ride the amazing roads around Nice? But donโt know how or donโt want to travel with your bike? Challenge accepted. We now rent out all-road / gravel bikes.
The brand-new carbon bikes are equipped with electronic 12 speed SRAM gearing to tackle the steepest hills and disc brakes for the fast descents. What are you waiting for?
We will pick you up at the airport, host you at our Bed & Breakfast and you get to do what you love the most. Thatโs what we call Bed, Breakfast, Ride & Repeat.
“We had our base there during a cycling holiday in the late summer of 22, and had some fantastic rides with Jesper as a knowledgeable guide. Jesper knows the area like the back of his hand, which is a huge plus in terms of route planning (both gravel and road), and also with a view to finding the best spots for refreshments ๐”
Bike
There is something almost zen about cycling alone in the mountains. You alone in nature.
But it is also fun cycling together in a group or with a guide. If you would like company on your bike rides in the area, then Jesper is happy to be your guide. He knows most of the local roads and all the small cafes and bistros for the all important coffee stop.
Contact him to discuss ideas and arrange for your perfect day(s) in the saddle.
We can of course also create .gpx files for your bike computer if you prefer to ride in solitude.
“I went on a three-day cycling tour in the area with Jesper as guide. Great trip and great area!”
Please feel free to view many more bike photos on our Instagram profile @Nice.Cyclist.
Jesper will create routes tailored to your wishes. We have arranged everything from 3 hard days with more than 100 km / 1000 m elevation gain per day to a photo safari where our guest had to find and document 8 objects along a 25 km route.
The terrain is ideal for cycling. Most roads are small and almost without cars. We can see the mountains from our house and can climb 3000 m on a 100 km route if that sounds like fun. Or we can ride our gravel bikes through the Tanneron and Esterel nature parks.
“Went on one of the most beautiful and toughest gravel bike-tours that I have tried, it was in Esterรฉl, with Jesper as guide, it was literally breath-taking in every way. It must be some kind of Gravel-heaven. I can highly recommend this area.”
Our area also offers good options for mountain bikers. Each year Roc d’Azur, which is described as Woodstock for bike-geeks, takes place with 20.000 participants, 300 exhibitors and 150.000 participants.
So regardless if you are the next Chris Froome or just starting out, we will find a route that suits you. It doesn’t matter if you are staying at Maison Bellevue or just visiting the area please feel free to call or contact us then we will help make your ride a success.
Hike
We also organise hiking tours in the area. We can setup everything from a stroll along the Mediterranean to a full day backpacking in the mountains. A few pictures from our hikes in the area:
Weather
Average temperatures allows for an all-year outdoor season of hiking and biking.
As an example I rode 5 hours on December 18th with short bibs in 20C and sunny weather.
“I have not cycled in the south of France before, but my expectations were high – both for the landscape, the weather and the cycling experiences. The meeting with Jesper and Bonnie is without parallel the most positive welcome and hospitality I have experienced as a traveller. It obviously makes a big difference that they have in-depth knowledge of your needs when you travel to experience any of the cycling experiences in the area. Jesper cycles and has cycled on every small road and other paths that are less accessible than that, so with his routes you get around the countryside on roads and paths that you would never have found yourself or had the courage to test. They have been tested, and Jesper plan the routes according to one’s wishes and need for challenges. The beauty of the house and the village can be seen for yourself in the photos on their website. I might add that the pictures do not disappoint. On the contrary, it is better than it looks, and as others have also written, it is great to be able to wake up to home-baked bread before checking the tire pressure and filling the bike bottles with water. Everything more than fully met my high expectations. Thank you for a great (but too short) stay. See you – chapeau from hereโ.
Holiday
If a holiday wearing a heart rate monitor doesn’t sound like holiday to you, there are lots of other exciting things to experience in the area.
We can see and hear the Siagne river from the house, so you don’t have to go far if you want to swim in the river’s crystal clear water or enjoy life standing waist deep in water with a fishing rod.
If your idea of a trip to the South of France sounds more like something with a beach, sand and umbrella cocktails you are in luck, we are located less than 10 km from the coast. The closest beach is in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, where you will also find good restaurants in the marina.
The local markets abound with delicious fresh food. What better way to spend time than taking a trip to the market to shop for a delicious lunch and our village has a wineshop. Life is good.
You can also visit the world-famous perfumeries in Grasse or go shopping and people watching on the prestigious La Croisette in Cannes.
The area has many golf courses to offer such as the Royal Mougins Golf Course, which is less than 10 km away.
If you proudly call yourself a Foodie and have an Instagram account to back it up, then you’ve come to the right place. French gastronomy is world class and there are no less than 77 Michelin star restaurants in Provence. Of course, less will do just as well. We are happy to help with restaurant recommendations and reservations.
Lots of good wine is grown in the area. You can visit the vineyards and stock up on the local rose wine or sample beer at one of the microbreweries in the area. We are happy to help with recommendations for which vineyards or brewery you should visit.
Bed & Breakfast cost from โฌ95 / night for 1 person.
2 people in the same room cost from โฌ130 / night.
Prices may be adjusted during peak summer season and holidays.
We can help with transit to and from Nice airport as well as rental bikes. We have a small bicycle workstand in the house and can probably find a spare tube or a chain link if needed.
